Development of formulations for reducing the incidence of polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) in raw materials for children's products

Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH) are present as impurities in some raw materials used in production of children's products such as toys or childcare articles. These unwanted substances are mainly present in rubber and flexible plastics, with a higher incidence in coloured plastics in black and grey shades and in recycled plastics.
The aim of this project is to investigate how to reduce the incidence of these unwanted substances and so that these raw materials may be suitable for use in children's products.
