During 2012, the R&D project "Hazard Characterisation in innovative children's products. Development of methodologies for risk management. INNOVARISK" started, a project funded by the Institute for Small and Medium Sized Companies of the Generalitat Valenciana (IMPIVA for its acronym in Spanish) within the STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME.
The immediate objective of this project is to analyse the hazards existing in current lines of innovation in children's products in order to develop a thorough specific methodology for managing risk depending on product type .
The ultimate goal of this methodology is to provide a scientific basis for addressing the risks of innovative product not covered by current regulations, in order to eliminate or minimise them considering the balance between optimum level of safety and innovation . This project involves obtaining a risk management methodology that enables the industry to combine innovation and safety synergies, and thus increase their competitiveness and differentiation. The project focuses on innovative children's product lines, particularly relevant in the Valencian industrial sector, such as toys, childcare articles and playground equipment, among others.
This project is co-funded by ERDF funds under the Operational Programme ERDF of the Comunitat Valenciana 2007-2013.
